NOEL LEDESMA

WHY LGCS: I love that I get to so many different jobs to help the school run smoothly, day to day, supporting our teachers and staff, so that our students have the best experience possible.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I believe the Lord has been preparing and training me for my role at LGCS for all of my career. I have 12 years of experience as an Early Education teacher and an administrator in private schools. I have also served as a director in children's ministry for 3 years and have had various leadership roles serving youth and college ministries for 10 years. This will be my 5th year at LGCS and I'm so happy to be at a school where I can bring both worlds, private education and church ministry, together!

HOBBIES: watching movies, trying new foods and restaurants, spending time with my family.

EMILY JACKSON

WHY LGCS: I am passionate about the overflowing community here at LGCS. The students, staff, and parents uplift each other in so many ways it's beautiful and all through the gift of God.

CATHERINE SCOTT

WENDY RAMIREZ

WHY LGCS: I love helping young students develop a life long love of learning.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I have been teaching Junior Kindergarten at LGCS for 6 years and have been working in early education for over 15 years. I have an early childhood teaching certification. I have also completed 30 additional units in early childhood education.

HOBBIES: I enjoy cooking healthy vegan meals, gardening, hiking and yoga.

JENNIFER SCHNABEL

WHY LGCS: Its an honor getting to teach these littles about God who loves them and has a plan for them! I also love working with this age group as they grow in their perception of themselves and the world around them.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2013 with a degree in Child and Adolescent Development and a minor in Psychology. I've had the privilege of working with children from all different backgrounds, whether it was through spending time with children in third world countries on mission or volunteering with children who have special needs. Before becoming the LGCS Director in January of 2021, I taught PreK for seven years.

HOBBIES: In addition to spending time with family and friends, I love to bake/cook, go on adventures and to the beach!

JENNY FELBERG

WHY LGCS: I love working at a school where I can teach the children about Jesus. I also love teaching them important foundational skills and enjoy the fun and laughter we share on a daily basis.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I graduated from Westmont College with a degree in elementary education. I got my teaching credential from Bethany College. I have 21 years of teaching experience.

HOBBIES: I love shopping, reading, finding good coffee shops, and watching my son play water polo.

RAMONA PIMENTEL

WHY LGCS: I endeavor to be part of the ministry.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I received my Bachelor of Arts La Sierra University in Riverside, California and my Masters in Fine Arts at Teachers College Columbia University in New York, New York. This will be my 10th year at LGCS! I am absolutely thrilled my daughter will experience the love, education and hard work our teachers pour into their students!

HOBBIES: I love the theater, salon/spa days, a good book and time with my family and friends!

VICTORIA PON

WHY LGCS: I enjoy teaching students a love of learning along with Christ love.

EDE SHINN

WHY LGCS: I love coming to school every morning (after my cup of morning coffee, of course), and just being around my class family. I love making learning fun and applicable for my students.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I have been an elementary school teacher for 11 years, 8 of those years have been in Christian education. I received a BA from CSU East Bay in Early Childhood Education as well as a minor in Education from UC Davis.

HOBBIES: I like to craft, cook, bake, root for the Niners, and take long romantic walks down the aisles of Target, Hobby Lobby and Costco.

BETHANY CALLAHAN

WHY LGCS: I am passionate about seeing student's lives transformed by the gospel!

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Third year teaching at LGCS; B.A in English Literature from San Jose State University ; M.A in Education from Santa Clara University

HOBBIES: I love to read, garden, and hike! I also love exploring new coffee shops, and chatting with new and old friends over a cup of coffee.

ANDREA TAORMINA

WHY LGCS: I am passionate about fostering independence and confidence in a warm and welcoming environment.

ROSALINA SOLI

WHY LGCS: What inspires me daily is engaging with students, getting individuals to discover their potential, and motivating pupils to trust Jesus and His plan for their lives.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I grew up in what is now known as Downtown San Jose. With my family, I attended a small Spanish speaking church where I accepted Christ as my Savior. As a young girl, I enjoyed the sights and sounds of the classroom which influenced my decision to become a teacher. After high school, I attended Notre Dame de Namur University where I earned a B.A. in Behavioral Science, followed by a multiple-subject teaching credential. After graduate work, I married my college sweetheart with whom I have been married for 38 years. Since then, I have taught grades 1-6, Middle School English and Spanish grades K-8, worked as an educational therapist and program director, served as an interim vice principal and later as a Dean of Students. As a 30+ year veteran of the field, my involvement in education has not only been varied, but greatly rewarding as well. I begin my 24th year here at LGCS where I find the school community to be my second family.

HOBBIES: I enjoy reading, gardening, hiking, and traveling.

DESTINY BENAVIDES

WHY LGCS: The LGCS team is genuine in their faith and love towards one another, and I want to be a part of an atmosphere that passionately ministers to the students! My prayer every morning is to have at least one spiritual or academic impact in a child’s life each day I step onto campus. Along with my passion for teaching, I also enjoy being influential after school by getting to know more students via coaching or assistant directing the spring musical.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: BA in Child and Adolescent Development, Minor in Justice Studies, MA in Curriculum and Instruction (San Jose State University). This will be my fourth year of teaching - second at LGCS.

HOBBIES: The physical activities I enjoy are softball, volleyball, tennis, basketball, paddle boarding, and figure skating. I also enjoy singing, being artistic, cooking, reading, playing video games, and spending quality time with friends and family.

DANIELLE LACY

WHY LGCS: I love sharing my love for Jesus, giving students opportunities to grow spiritually, opportunities to lead, and empower them to find out who they are as children of God, learners, and friends.

SHARON ADAM

WHY LGCS: I love being able to show students that God is interested in them, he loves them, he made their brain and can help them learn and grow in Math, whatever level they are at. Also, God is not separate from our Math education. We don't learn about God and then learn about Math. God is a part of our learning process, helping us grow and do our best for His glory.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: BS Mechanical Engineering, California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) SLO. After many years in industry, this is my fourth year teaching at LGCS.

HOBBIES: Gardening , baking & traveling. oh and ofcourse coffee, all things coffee.

INTERESTING FACTS: Teaching at LGCS is a special honor for me. God so clearly called me to this for this time in my life. My husband I are both California natives and have enjoyed raising our 3 sons, who are all adults now, here in Silicon Valley.

DENISE CHESTER

WHY LGCS: I love to serve God by ministering to people in both practical and spiritual ways.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I have been serving God as an educator in both secular and faith based organizations throughout my adult life. My BA degree in Fine Arts from Judson University in Elgin, IL laid a strong foundation within me for serving God and helping people know him more through any career opportunities. I joined the LGCS staff in 1996 and served as Librarian, MS elective, Bible, and Math teacher. After obtaining a CA K-12 Multi-subject teaching credential, a Master's Degree in Education, and my Lifetime Professional Administration certification from ACSI I became the Vice-Principal of LGCS. God called me to Achiever Christian school to serve as their Principal in 2008. After an early retirement period during which I have tutored students from many local public and private schools ranging in age from 4 - 50, God has called me back to LGCS. I am grateful for His calling and will faithfully follow as He leads.

HOBBIES: My favorite free time activities are traveling, reading, and playing logic games and puzzles.

INTERESTING FACTS: I am married to my soulmate and best friend, Tom. We have 4 children and 11 grandchildren. I have lived in CA since 1994. My childhood was spent in the Chicago suburbs. I have a daughter in Pre-K, and a grandson currently in 2nd grade at LGCS. My daughter, Wendy Ramirez, is the Pre-K teacher, LOL! Her family shares a home with my husband and me and we have 1dog, 3 cats, and a hamster. I have lived in 5 different states: IL, TX, MI, VA, and CA.

MICHELLE CASTANEDA

WHY LGCS: Teaching children has always been my passion. This year, at LGCS, I am thrilled to be able to teach my students and pray with them in their struggles. I am striving to create a classroom environment filled with God’s love, a place where students can feel free to make mistakes and learn as we all experience God’s grace.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I have been teaching for over 18 years, most of that time in primary grades. I have experience with students from grades Kindergarten through high school. I received my Elementary Education degree and California teaching credential from Bethany College, a private Christian school. There, I learned from amazing Christian educators who mentored me as a new teacher. Then I attended Harvard University, where I received my master’s in Education with an emphasis in Human Development and Psychology. I also completed my California administrative credential from the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

HOBBIES: I love to read and write, mostly Christian fiction. I also love traveling, hiking, and baking.

SHERI CHRISTIE

WHY LGCS: I love getting outdoors with the kids and getting them moving. We have been called to care for the body that God has gifted us with so what better location than out at Kring Field to get moving and to take in His beautiful view of the Santa Cruz mountains!

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: BA from William Jessup University in Counseling Psychology and Bible Theology Teaching Credential from San Jose State. Level 1 Sports Nutrition Certificate from Precision Nutrition and Stanford University

HOBBIES: Any sports, but love soccer and triathlons the most!

INTERESTING FACTS: I was the first girl to play on the boys Varsity tackle football team at Valley Christian High School. I have over 8 years of teaching experience. I am married with 3 children who attend LGCS just like I did. What I love most about LGCS is that I always felt loved by the teachers I had and I love seeing the same happen with my own kids. "

DAKOTA LARSON

WHY LGCS: It has been a dream of mine to teach at LGCS since I was a student here! Our loving and welcoming community inspires me everyday to continue developing my skills as an educator so I can serve our families. I am very passionate about creating a safe classroom environment where students are encouraged to use a growth mindset so that they can gain a genuine love for learning.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I am very blessed to be beginning my career as a 1st grade teacher. During the 2020-21 school year and Fall 2021 semester, I served as a teacher's aide in 1st-3rd grade classrooms at LGCS. In May 2022, I graduated from SJSU with my BA in Liberal Studies Integrated Teacher Preparation and preliminary Multiple Subject Credential. While in SJSU's credential program, I had the wonderful opportunity to join the PEERS (Teacher Residency) program which partnered with Oak Grove School District, and I co-taught a 4th grade class for the entire 2021-2022 school year.

HOBBIES: When I'm not teaching, I love being outdoors, enjoying nature, and finding ways to be active! On weekdays, I like to take my dog for a walk and go to the gym, and on the weekends, I love finding new hiking trails. I also enjoy listening to music, painting, and reading.

FAVORITE BIBLE VERSE: One of my favorite verses is Philippians 1:20 ""I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death."" It is such a powerful reminder that regardless of what others are doing around me, I want to always show and share God's love. My favorite book is Ecclesiastes; calling everything meaningless could seem disenchanting, but it's a mindset that keeps me focused on God. Verse 1:14 says ""I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind,"" and I interpret this to mean that things the world sees as important or anything separated from God is temporary; it means that everything I do needs to ultimately serve God.

INTERESTING FACTS: Before attending SJSU for my undergraduate studies and credential program, I was a student at LGCS from 1st to 8th grade and graduated from Valley Christian High School! I am very grateful to have been blessed with a Christ-centered education that has also prepared me for the world."

BETHANY CLEMONS

WHY LGCS: I am passionate about pointing kids to Christ and seeing them grow in their faith. I love to see their joyous faces each morning and helping them in their academic journey.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I’ve been working in education for over 20 years. I’m finishing up my Associate’s degree in Child Development this year with an emphasis in Early Education.

ELIZABETH DUFFY

WHY LGCS: I care so much about the students in our class and I love watching their development as students and people!

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I received a MA in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family therapy from Pepperdine University. I went on to work with children in both outpatient and school based therapy, focusing primarily on trauma and grief work.

HOBBIES: I enjoy spending time with my family, playing the cello, hiking in nature and knitting.

ASHLEY JACOBS

WHY LGCS: I am passionate about the children. Teaching them about God’s love and being surrounded by a Christian community.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Attended West Valley College to earn my Early Childhood Education credits. I have been working at Los Gatos Christian School since 2013.

HOBBIES: Cooking, gardening and walking.

LINDA EVANS

WHY LGCS: I love to see a student feel confident in their artistic creation. The look on their face is priceless to me. It makes me feel passionate about how important the arts are in education. Another area I feel joy about when a student heart truly comes to the Lord.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I bring to my job as the art teacher at LGCS a variety of life experiences. I started my teaching career in preschool. I have my BA in art and studied pottery in Japan. I was a clothing designer, an interior designer for a firm as well as a commissioned artist for businesses and private collections.

HOBBIES: Love anything to do with the ocean and beaches!! Find free stuff and make it into something fun.

FAVORITE BIBLE VERSE: My favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11. When i have had to weather rough patches in my life that scripture has carried me. It reminds me to have Hope in God not circumstances as He holds my future in His hands and not mine.

INTERESTING FACTS: I am married and have two grown children. My daughter attended LGCS and became a missionary for 11 years.I love witnessing for the gospel with Provision International at music festivals like Bonneroo inTennessee.I had a ministry for single moms, some of which lived in their cars. Started my art career on the beaches of Hawaii face painting. I was a stand up comic! Some future goals would be to do art with brain damaged individuals. Learn to play the ukulele!!"

VIRGINIA HOLDEN

WHY LGCS: I enjoy hearing how different students approach and explain concepts recognizing there is more than one way to solve/reach a solution. I like to challenge students to reach their potential wherever it may be. I delight when the light bulb goes on in a student’s head (moment they understand). I wish to make learning fun and let students know they can achieve and do anything they set their minds to do. I relish the variety and making a difference by helping them see the connection between what they are learning and their lives. I cherish seeing students grow (spiritually, socially, emotionally, academically, physically).

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science and teaching credential from San Jose State; working at Los Gatos since 2000 in various capacities – teacher, aide, coach

STEPHANIE GAMBLE

WHY LGCS: I look forward to coming to work each day because I get the opportunity to work with individuals that are passionate and committed to what they do. The atmosphere here at LGCS is warm and inviting, and it is a place where staff, students, and families, can build authentic relationships centered around Christ.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Always passionate about teaching young learners, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Educational Studies from Grand Canyon University. I have worked in Early Education for twelve years while teaching/directing and helping children grow in all areas of their development.

HOBBIES: In my free time, I am a Peloton fanatic, I enjoy D.I.Y projects, gardening, day road trips, being a soccer mom, watching a good documentary, and listening to TED Talks.

JANELL SEFRIED

WHY LGCS: I am most passionate about making connections with my students, especially those who are having trouble learning or fitting in. I also love to help students solve problems and encourage out-of-the box thinking.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I began working at LGCS over 24 years ago when my daughter started school, and while volunteering with her class I quickly discovered my passion of educating children. I initially began working in the lunch and after school programs where I was blessed with additional opportunities to learn new skill sets while on the job. I now possess 21 years of experience as a kindergarten aide and enjoy the continual growth this role brings from my students and colleagues. HOBBIES: My hobbies include camping, fishing, and reading, but I enjoy almost anything outdoors near a body of water.

INTERESTING FACTS: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I have been married for 31 years and we have one daughter who graduated from LGCS in 2007. I love the outdoors and I can often be found camping at the beach with my husband and our chocolate Labrador, Jax. Living a healthy lifestyle is very important to me and I genuinely enjoy working out at least 5 times per week. My favorite thing to do is explore new places and one of my favorite adventures was a 2 week road trip to Yellowstone and back."

THERESA PAULSON

WHY LGCS: The community at LGCS is truly something special. It not only allows me to build a greater connection with God, but also with the people around me. It gives me the privilege to connect with great adults and young children who strive to make me a better person everyday.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: I have worked in the dental industry for the past 20+ years making this my first year in education!

HOBBIES: I love to be outdoors with my family such as going to the beach, going on hikes, or simple walks around the neighborhood with our golden retriever, Oliver Finn

INTERESTING FACTS: I have ran 6 marathons and have 4 daughters! We are a big soccer family and love going to San Jose Earthquakes games!

YANG ZHANG

WHY LGCS:I love working with colleagues who share the same belief. I love the warm and welcoming working environment.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:Three years of teaching experiences in public schools. BA from SuZhou University in Chinese Language and Literature, MA from Zhejiang University in Theory of Literature And Art, and from Cleveland State University in Curriculum and Instruction.

HOBBIES:Hiking, swimming, cooking, reading, and traveling.

INTERESTING FACTS: My husband and I have been married for 16 years and we have two girls who attend LGCS.

BELLA LAZAR

WHY LGCS: My favorite parts of teaching at LGCS are greeting students in the morning and having the ability to share my faith in Jesus in any class!

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:I have been teaching at LGCS for about 12 years. I have a EE degree from the University of Illinois

HOBBIES:Reading, creating graphics, and knitting

INTERESTING FACTS: I have been married for over 28 years. It's gone by fast! We are blessed with two children who enrich our lives and make us laugh. I'm proud to say they are both graduates of LGCS! Our doggo, Buddy, is still dominating our conversations at home and he occupies a huge chunk of hearts as well.
